ALDEBARAN PARK NEWS UPDATE NOVEMBER 2017

GOLD! GOLD! GOLD!

November was a real red-letter month for Aldebaran Park and the team oat the Farm led by Danny and Melinda Thackeray and for its principal Duncan McPherson OAM.

SKYVALLEY, the stud’s champion resident stallion, was named the Victorian Sire of the Year for the second time at the Victorian Square Trotters Association’s Award Night.

While Duncan claimed the VSTA Trotting Breeder of the Year title for the third year running, having bred 15 individual winners for the season.

SKYVALLEY also received the 2YO Trotting Sire of the Year award at the annual Harness Breeders Victoria Awards Day, while Fend Off, a son of Aldebaran Park frozen sire YIELD BOKO, was named 2YO Trotting Colt/Gelding of the Year and our bonny mare Sundonna was announced as the Trotting Broodmare of the Year.

Aldebaran Park also collected the Australasian Premier Trotting Sale Yearling High Earner award for Aldebaran Aliza, the Muscle Hill filly out of Kyvalley Aldebaran NZ, who fetched an Australian record price of $55,000 at the 2017 Australasian Premier Trotting Sale.

On the subject of awards, I’m Princess Sophie, who is owned by Aldebaran Park, claimed the 2016/17 Aged Trotting Mare of the Year trophy in Adelaide, while the SKYVALLEY gelding Tornado Valley was announced as the 2017 Horse of the Year at Ashburton, New Zealand.

SKYVALLEY’s stock have commenced the new racing season with a bang!

Sky Petite and My Skypocket, both members of his first crop, took out the Gunbower and St Arnaud Trotters Cups respectively with the former smashing the track record.

Blue Sky Commander ($145,238), SKYVALLEY’s richest male performer, won three races on end in November – including two at Gloucester Park – and has won five of his seven starts so far in the West.

Flash Kyvalley, a SKYVALLEY three-year-old, is proving the best of his age and gait this season with convincing wins at Kilmore and Bendigo at his only two starts.

Other recent SKYVALLEY winners have been Skyflyer, Miss Invasion, No Republic and in New Zealand, Sky Tower.

Hotjane Bling, a homegrown product of EILEAN DONAN and Kyvalley Bling, extended her winning sequence to four and has won five out of six this season, while Zhenya, who is raced by Aldebaran Park, won for the 12th time at Ballarat and is closing in on the $100,000 earnings mark.

In other news the young Muscle Hill entire Aldebaran Eagle has arrived at our farm after a successful racetrack career in North America and will likely commence stud duties here next season.
