Horse of the Year Double – November News.

Aldebaran Park had close breeding ties with winners of two Victorian Horse of the Year awards for 2015/16.

Kyvalley Kyrie, the 2YO Trotting Filly of the Year, was bred by Aldebaran Park out of the Group 1 Breeders Crown placegetter Aldebaran Maori, while Maori Time, the Aged Trotting Mare of the Year, is from the Stud-owned mare Sundonna.

Resident stallion SKYVALLEY picked up his 29th credit when the Aldebaran Park-bred three-year-old filly Breezin Around (Aldebaran Breeze – Windsongs Legacy USA) posted her maiden success at Bendigo.

Other SKYVALLEY NZ winners for the month were Skyflyer, who won at Melton and Yarra Valley and has earned over $50,000 in stakes, Sky Me A River, who won three races in the space of a fortnight, and the Auckland, New Zealand winner Mr Good And Evil NZ.

SKYVALLEY NZ Australian-bred progeny has amassed almost $1.1-million in prizemoney with an average of $25,000 per starter.

The frozen semen sire EILEAN DONON USA continues to build on his impressive statistics. Veruckte Phoenix and Nica Macdonon, both members of his first crop, scored at Melton and Yarra Valley respectively in November. Veruckte Phoenix, who was bred and is part-owned by long-time client Ashley Haynes, has won five of her 13 starts to date.

We congratulate the connections of the three-year-old pacing gelding Riccardo, a brilliant winner by 15-3/4 lengths at Addington in a 1:54.6 rate over 1950 metres. Riccardo was bred by Aldebaran Park out of Our Awesome Lover NZ and has won two of his four starts.

Other Aldebaran Park-bred and owned winners were Aldebaran Jazzi – a first time winner at Cobram, trained by Danny Thackeray, and Aldebaran Brandi who recorded her 9th lifetime win at Globe Derby Park in South Australia.

A further two heats in the Aldebaran Park Monte Grand Circuit were decided in November. Kain’s Boy, trained by Brian King and ridden by Maree Campbell, won at Yarra Valley, while Whiskey Business, trained and ridden by Kylee Paull, saluted at Cranbourne.
