Eilean Donon’s impressive siring record - June 2019

Aldebaran Park’s frozen sire EILEAN DONON was credited with his second Group winner in the space of a month when his smart five-year-old daughter Hotjane Bling easily accounted for a strong field in the Group 3 $24,000 Lightfoot Laurels at Melton.

After leading in the early part then handing up, Hotjane Bling used the passing lane to full advantage to overwhelm her opposition by four metres.

Out of the Aldebaran Park owned mare Kyvalley Bling, Hotjane Bling, a Breeders Crown and Vicbred finalist, has won seven races and $58,040 in stakes to date.

Meanwhile, EILEAN DONON’s Group winning two-year-old filly Mollys Purse made it two wins from three starts, coming off a 10 metre handicap to win at Bendigo.

From only 36 foals of racing age, EILEAN DONON has the amazing record of 21 starters, 11 winners and eight placegetters for progeny earnings of $588,344 – an average of $28,016 per starter!

Pink Galahs, a two-year-old filly by SKYVALLEY, made an auspicious winning debut in an Aldebaran Park Vicbred Super Series heat at Maryborough. The youngster led from the outset and boomed home in 60.4 to win by 5.3 metres.

SKYVALLEY was also represented by Fremarksrooster, a winner at Geelong, and Pretorius, who notched win No. 3 at Bay Of Plenty, New Zealand.

The No. 1 colonial bred trotting sire in Australasia, SKYVALLEY has left 31 individual winners to date this season for more than $820,000 in stakes.

Aldebaran Park owned square-gaiters have been to the forefront in two different countries recently. In America, ALDEBARAN EAGLE’s younger full brother Sermon, a $115,000 Lexington Yearling Sale purchase, won a qualifier by four lengths in 1:58 at The Meadowlands, while the three-year-old Aldebaranwalkabout finished second in 1:55.2 in a qualifier at the same track.

While Aldebaran Broozer NZ led throughout to hoist his seventh success at Globe Derby Park.

On the subject of ALDEBARAN EAGLE, the first foals of the brilliant, young sire have now been weaned including a striking colt out of Charming Yankee NZ and fillies out of Broodmare of the Year Sundonna, Aldebaran Turnpike USA and Follow The Foal mum Aldebaran Maori.
