Open Day November 2008

A new state-of-the-art breeding facility and a new trotting stallion were unveiled to the public at an afternoon function at Aldebaran Park at Nagambie, near Shepparton, in November.

More than 130 invited guests including horsemen and women, friends, clients and media enjoyed the hospitality of Chris and Sharon Lang and Duncan and Lyn McPherson.

They were treated to a sumptuous three-course lunch and a tour of the fully irrigated stud’s breeding, agistment and training facilities, hosted by studmaster Sharon Lang. The interested onlookers were also shown some of the new ‘arrivals’ at the farm including a filly by the deceased American trotting star Windsongs Legacy.

A highlight of the day was the parade of the Stud’s foundation sire Aldebaran Yankee, a royally-bred son of top American sire Muscles Yankee and the Lindy Lane mare Maori Road.
The young stallion has attracted widespread interest from breeders at the sensible service fee of $1100 with more than 30 bookings already received.

Sundons Gift, the 2008 Australian Trotter of the Year, was also paraded.

The Opening was done in a most professional manner, in keeping with the stud’s motto ‘A commitment to quality’.
