EILEAN DONON (USA)
Angus Hall - Legend Queen - Legend Hanover
EILEAN DONON served in excess of 100 mares in his first two seasons in Europe. A superb individual, 16 hands, EILEAN DONON is standing his first Australian season at ALDEBARAN PARK – the home of the trotters.
Eilean Donon will stand his second season at Aldebaran Park in the coming 2010/2011 season. Well patronised in his first season his foals are eagerly anticipated by the breeders.
His service fee for the 2010-2011 season is $2475 incl GST (LFG)
“Eilean Donon is one of the best gaited horses I’ve ever trained. And that says something….I’ve also trained his sire Angus Hall and Angus’ brothers Conway and Andover. I would not doubt a second to breed my mare to Eilean Donon….he had extreme speed, a round and very economical gait and has a flawless conformation.”
Leading USA horseman Bob Stewart
Rated as Canada’s top trotter as a 2YO, EILEAN DONON earned $235,469 posting six wins and three placings from 11 starts, winning two $96,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold finals and the $80,000 Champlain Stakes.
As a 3YO EILEAN DONON defeated Cantab Hall in a $100,000 Hambletonian heat in 1:54.4. He also won the $100,000 Simcoe Stakes and heat of the $235,000 Goodtimes (3rd in final), amassing $156,668 from four wins in nine starts.
A Hambletonian heat winner himself, EILEAN DONON’s family is littered with Hambletonian heat and final winners. His sire ANGUS HALL won a heat of the ‘Hambo’, while Angus’ brothers ANDOVER HALL and CONWAY HALL both sired Hambletonian winners. His damsire LEGEND HANOVER won the 1979 ‘Hambo’ and his sire SUPER BOWL left six winners of the prestigious classic.
A grandson of influential sire Garland Lobell, EILEAN DONON’s pedigree contains the blood of Super Bowl, Star’s Pride, Speedy Crown, Florida Pro, Nevele Pride and Hoot Mon, all champion sires and broodmare sires.
European News
The 21st August 2009 Yearling sale at Wolvega, The Netherlands, saw a striking yearling colt Eilean Donon - Michaela November named "Belmont Boko" sell for 24,000 Euro or approx $40,000 AUD. The vendor was John Bootsman of Boko Stables, one of the largest European breeders who has racing and breeding facilities and stables in Holland and Sweden.
Since then Belmont Boko has continued to create excitement in his European stable and his race track debut is much anticipated.
There is little doubt that Australian breeders should be delighted with this result as the opportunity for them to breed to this sire line has not previously been available.
