MALABAR MAPLE (USA)
Malabar Man - Promised Crown - Speedy Crown

A foal of 1999, MALABAR MAPLE was an outstanding two and three-year-old, winning close to $500,000 from only 27 starts.

As a two-year-old MALABAR MAPLE captured an elimination of the Matron Stake and was placed in the International Stallion Stake, Bluegrass Stake and Champlain Stake. He took his mark of 1:53.4 at 3, winning the $120,000 Zweig Memorial at Syracuse, as well as winning a heat and the $150,000 New Jersey Sires Stake Final at The Meadowlands.

"Malabar Maple carried his speed well at all times and has a great gait and beautiful stride." – champion US reinsman David Miller

MALABAR MAPLE retired as the fastest and richest son of the Hambletonian champion and leading sire Malabar Man.

On his dam's side, MALABAR MAPLE carries the blood of Speedy Crown, Star's Pride, Dartmouth and Florican – all leading sires and broodmare sires. His dam, Promised Crown, left six in the 2:00 list and she is a sister to the great Florida Pro and from a top family of trotters.

With progeny earnings of Can$2.75million from just four crops, MALABAR MAPLE is a young sire well on the way to making a real impact at the stud. To this stage in North America he is the sire of three in 1:56, 11 in 1:58, 71 in 2:05 and 27 Stakes winners and 57 Stakes placegetters.

In New Zealand and Australia, MALABAR MAPLE has produced 'black type' winners in Tuhimata Glass, winner of the recent $163,000 Group 1 Breeders Crown 2YO Final at Tabcorp Park, and Trottn On The Ritz, who won the $50,000 Group 1 Vicbred Super Series 2YO Final.

The Breeders Crown Consolation winner Question This, My Mate Mal (3rd in Breeders Crown Final), Wont Be The Same, Bull McCabe and Canadian Phoenix have been other smart performers from MALABAR MAPLE’s first 'Down Under' crops.
