Tornado Valley is leading trotter - November 2018

By Peter Wharton

SKYVALLEY’S outstanding son Tornado Valley is again Australia’s leading square-gaiter this season.

The gelding made it three for three this term when he led throughout in the Group 3 Aldebaran Park Trotters Free-for-all at Melton on November 16 to advance his seasonal bankroll to $51,300.  Tornado Valley has now won nine times at Group/Listed level.

Sky Petite, SKYVALLEY’s richest ever female, posted her fourth win at Group/Listed level in taking out the Group 3 Yarra Valley Trotters Cup, coming off a 20 metre handicap and carving out her last 800 in 57.4. The mare has won 20 races and $212,685 in prizemoney.

Interestingly, Tornado Valley and Sky Petite were ranked second and sixth respectively in the final rating for the 2018 Melbourne Inter Dominion.

Valley Ess Jay and Kyvalley Boomerang, both members of SKYVALLEY’S first crop, recorded victories in November, the former at Shepparton and Maryborough and the latter at Menangle, coming off 30 metres and rating 1:59.5 for the 2300 metre stand.

Of SKYVALLEY’s initial crop of 44 foals, 27 have raced and 21 have emerged successful and they have earned a whopping $1.1million in stakes between them.

Kyvalley Kiri (Ballarat twice), Flash Kyvalley (Maryborough) and Picketts Ridge (Invercargill, NZ) were other winners sired by SKYVALLEY during November. Kyvalley Kiri, who was bred by Aldebaran Park from Maori Road, has won five of her 13 starts to date.

Meanwhile, Aldebaran Willo, a gelding bred in New Zealand by Aldebaran Park out of Solar Powered NZ, broke through for his first win at only his fourth attempt at Geelong.

Another former Kiwi gelding, Aldebaran Broozer NZ, owned by Aldebaran Park, won for the fifth time since February at Globe Derby Park.
