Aldebaran Park sires to the forefront - April 2025
Aldebaran Park sired, bred or owned performers shone brightly on the biggest stages in three different States and New Zealand during April 2025 – both on and off the track.
Arcee Phoenix, the Aldebaran Park slot runner in the $600,000 The TAB Trot at Cambridge Raceway, NZ, boomed home to beat a top field including Queen Elida, The Locomotive and Muscle Mountain. It was the second year Aldebaran Park had Arcee Phoenix as its Slot runner and if all goes to plan the same TEAM will again venture to New Zealand in 2025.
Golden Sunset – Tr 1.53.7- became the richest ever daughter of SKYVALLEY NZ when she won rating 1:53.7 over 1660 metres at Albion Park. She has won six of her nine outings this season and 16 lifetime races for $164,091 in stakes.
The Aldebaran Park bred and owned Aldebaran Dexta - $75,510.00 (ALDEBARAN EAGLE USA - Aldebaran Deegan NZ) captured the Strathalbyn Trotters Cup – a Listed Classic, at Globe Derby Park in South Australia – his 18th success.
Meanwhile, Aldebaran Acrux USA (Chapter Seven USA - Model Behavior USA), who was purchased as a yearling in the USA and imported to Australia by Aldebaran Park, maintained her devastating form with a come-from-behind success at Melton. She has now won eight races, $123,378 and has a mile mark of 1:55.
SKYVALLEY NZ has jumped to third place on the all aged stakemoney and winner’s lists this season.
Besides Golden Sunset, SKYVALLEY NZ was represented by the dual Gloucester Park winner Patched TR 1.58.4 – 27 wins - $295,663.00, the three-year-old Sky Spirit (Kilmore), Blue Skye Alm (Ballarat), Maori’s Return (Swan Hill) and Hurricane Jane (Globe Derby Park).
SKYVALLEY NZ also figured as the damsire of Abbie (Bendigo and Shepparton) and Moonshine Penny.
Other ALDEBARAN EAGLE USA winners for the month were Winnies Reward 1:59.4 (Kilmore), the winner of four races on end, and the Terang winner and Aldebaran Park bred and raised Aldebaran Buddy (ex Sundon’s Babe NZ).
Aldebaran Park bred five individual winners in April in Aldebaran Redwood (Father Patrick USA - Another Love NZ), a winner at Addington in New Zealand, Kyvalley Heist NZ Tr 1:59 (Muscle Mass USA - U Dream NZ), a winner at Globe Derby Park in South Australia, Aldebaran Dexta (Aldebaran Eagle USA – Aldebaran Deegan NZ), a winner at Globe Derby Park in South Australia, Aldebaran Buddy (Aldebaran Eagle USA – Sundons Babe NZ), who won at Terang in Victoria and Abbie (Majestic Son CA - Aldebaran Peggy) who won twice in April at Bendigo and Shepparton.
YEARLING SALES.
Aldebaran Park yearlings sold at the 2025 Nutrien Equine Sale held at Oaklands Junction on 14th April 2025 grossed $279,500 for 11 lots sold, an average price of $25,409.
Aldebaran Emjay, a lovely Tactical Landing USA filly out of Mason Magic, fetched the second highest price for a trotter at the sale at $82,500.
Other Aldebaran Park yearlings to sell well were Aldebaran Stella (Bold Eagle Fra -Aldebaran Shakira) at $40,000, Aldebaran Angela (Dancinginthedark M USA - Aldebaran Ariana) $32,500 and Aldebaran Aurora (Muscle Mass USA - Aldebaran Ay M NZ) $30,000.
STALLION NEWS.
In other Stud news, the Readly Express SWE stallion DANCINGINTHEDARK M USA, who has stood the last three seasons at Aldebaran Park, will be returning to the northern hemisphere this season to stand at the prestige Menhammar Stuteri AB Stud in Sweden.
The first few mares bred to him in Sweden via frozen semen have all tested in foal.
DANCININTHEDARK M USA was a multiple Stakes winner as a two and three-year-old in North America and was the fastest two-year-old trotter ever to stand in this country.
