Big Vicbred Platinum double! - December 2024 / January 2025
The Aldebaran Park stallions SKYVALLEY NZ and ALDEBARAN EAGLE USA left the winners of two of the four divisions of the Vicbred Platinum Homegrown Classic at Melton in December.
Alrighty, a two-year-old gelding (by SKYVALLEY NZ), was responsible for a terrific performance in winning his $25,000 Final, while Winnie’s Dream (by ALDEBARAN EAGLE USA) and Kyvalley Misty (by SKYVALLEY NZ) quinellaed the $25,000 three-year-old fillies’ decider.
It was Winnie’s Dream’s third success in the space of 12 days!
Alrighty, who has won three of his six starts to date and looks a potential topliner, was one of 22 winners sired by SKYVALLEY NZ in December 2024 and January 2025.
Heading the vanguard was the bonny mare Golden Sunset, whose three victories for the month – including a 1:57.1 lifetime best effort at Albion Park – lifted her stake tally to beyond $100,000 and she became the 22nd progeny of SKYVALLEY NZ to reach the magical six figure mark. Golden Sunset lowered her mark to 1:56.9 when she registered her 11th victory at Albion Park in January.
Patched, a Victorian bred son of SKYVALLEY NZ, provided another highlight for his sire when he captured the Group 2 $50,000 Gloucester Park Trotters Cup from a 30 metre handicap. It was the gelding’s 22nd success and boosted his earnings to more than $240,000.
SKYVALLEY NZ was also represented by a pair of ‘new’ two-year-old winners in Kiss At Midnight (Bendigo) and Old Dominion (Horsham) and the three-year-old winners Attracted and Sky Lindy (both Shepparton), Maximez (Ballarat) and Ildefonso (Cranbourne).
Other SKYVALLEY NZ winners for December/January were Sellune (Pinjarra twice and Gloucester Park), Timmy Turtle NZ 1:58.9 (Melton), Kyvalley Finn (Albion Park), Madge Egan and Castles In The Sky (both Bendigo), Floating Mountain (Maryborough), Kyvalley Honeybunny Tr1:58.2, Mac Flick and Watch And Act (all Shepparton), Old Villa Boy Tr1:59.1 (Horsham), Kota Bharu (Geelong) and Night Sky (Charlton).
SKYVALLEY NZ also ranks as the Damsire of the Melton and Bendigo victor Im Bobby Tr 1:57, the Shepparton three-year-old winner Majestic Monarch, Midnite Muscle (Bendigo), Straight To The Top (Cobram).
In January ALDEBARAN EAGLE USA was represented by winners on both sides of the Tasman including the exciting Aldebaran Park bred Lair Of The Eagle (ex Never Never Land, by SKYVALLEY NZ), a winner at Melton in 1:56.6 and Charlton in 1:58.4.
The three-year-olds Huxham Chubb (Maryborough) and Mystery Fred (Stawell), the Aldebaran Park bred Aldebaran Demi (ex Aldebaran Maori), a winner at Bendigo in 2:00, and Eagle Hanover NZ (Otaki, New Zealand) were among winners sired by ALDEBARAN EAGLE USA in December and January.
Other Aldebaran Park bred winners have been Aldebaran Brooke (Southwind Frank USA-Excellent Boko Swe), a winner at Melton in 1:58.5 and Ballarat in 1:59.5, the 1:59.4 Albion Park winner Hammer Son (Majestic Son Ca-Jingling Silver), Aldebaran Miley (Father Patrick USA - Mason Magic), who scored in 1:58.6 at Shepparton, and the Globe Derby Park winner Savvy Kyvalley (Andover Hall USA - Aldebaran Dream NZ).

The NZB Yearling Sales are in New Zealand in February 2025 – we are offering Lot 195 – Aldebaran Tommy – a Bay Colt by the French champion Timoko Fra - from the New Zealand 4yo Trotting Mare of the Year – Rain Mist & Muscle Nz – herself by the world champion sire Muscle Hill Usa. This is her first foal – a COLT – and he is being prepared by Ken and Anne-Marie Spicer at Rosedale Farm – Ladbrooks.
