Skyvalleys stock on fire - June 2020

By Peter Wharton

Aldebaran Park resident stallion SKYVALLEY, the leading Australian-based trotting sire again this season, had a red-letter month in June. He produced seven individual winners of 10 races in three different States!

Heading the list was the two-year-old filly All That Glitters, who won twice at Globe Derby Park including the prestigious Parker Classic and has now won three of her four starts.

Nerveracking, a four-year-old mare, won three races in the space of a fortnight at Globe Derby to increase her tally of wins to five.

SKYVALLEY was represented by two winners at Melton in the talented three-year-old filly Pink Galahs, who has won three on end and seven of her 12 lifetime starts, and Aldebaran Rambo (1:59.7).

Other recent SKYVALLEY winners have been the three-year-olds Patched and Skybreeze and the good Menangle victor Scenic Sky (his 12th win). Skybreeze was particularly impressive in scoring by 17 metres at only his second appearance.

The Aldebaran Park bred Aldebaran Crescent has been in sparkling form recently, winning at Shepparton (off 20 metres) and Cranbourne.

Two progeny of Aldebaran Park owned mares saluted on either side of the Tasman. The two-year-old filly Aldebaran Selena (ex Yankee Sister), an APTS trotting sale graduate, hoisted a fresh track record notching her first success at Albion Park, while the four-year-old Emerald Hill (ex Petite’s Legacy), won at his first attempt at Alexandra Park, Auckland.

Tip Top Grandpa, a son of ALDEBARAN YANKEE, won its second race at Cranbourne in June.

On an international front, Aldebaran Park has two exciting, young trotting prospects ready to strut their stuff in North America. Aldebaran Revani, a three-year-old filly owned by Aldebaran Park, won her qualifier by open lengths under a hold in 1:56.2 at Magical Acres, New Jersey.

Sonofamistery, a two-year-old colt by Muscle Hill out of the world champion Mistery Woman (Tr 1:51) who was jointly bred by Aldebaran Park, won its qualifier in 1:57.4 at The Meadowlands, while the three-year-old filly Syrinx Minx, part-owned by Aldebaran Park, qualified in 1:55.6.  Both are being targeted at the rich Pennsylvania Sires Stakes in July.

While in Europe, Aldebaran Teal, owned by Aldebaran Park, dropped her second foal, a colt by the dual Swedish Horse of the Year Readly Express, at Menhammar Stuteri, Sweden.

Aldebaran Park will be strongly represented at the APTS trotting sale at Oaklands Junction next February. We have nominated seven colts and four fillies including colts by Father Patrick and Love You, a filly by Southwind Frank and five colts and three fillies by our brilliant, young stallion ALDEBARAN EAGLE.

There’s half-brothers to Maori Time, Aldebaran Selena and Aldebaran Shelly, a colt from the dual Vicbred champion Endsino, a colt from Naked Majesty and a filly from the $100,000 earner Zhenya.
