Speed blitz at Aldebaran Park - November 2021

A new Melton track record, a fresh NZ record and a Breeders Crown success underpinned a memorable month for leading Victorian standardbred nursery, Aldebaran Park.

Brilliant three-year-old colt Aldebaran Zeus Tr 1.58.7 (Muscle Hill Usa - Zoia Boko Swe), who was bred, is leased and is part-owned / raced by Aldebaran Park, was undoubtedly the headline act with his track record-breaking win in the Group 1 $80,000 Breeders Crown Final at Melton.

His mile rate of 1:58.7 over 2240 metres lowered the previous track record set by Cruisin Around in 2016 by one-tenth of a second and was a new lifetime mark. The win lifted his stake tally to $139,170, the result of eight wins and 10 placings in 22 starts.

Aldebaran Zeus is the third Breeders Crown champion bred by Aldebaran Park, joining Kyvalley Kyrie Tr 1.59.0, who captured the two-year-old fillies’ title in 2016 and Aldebaran AyM Tr 1.58.8 who captured the 4yo mares in 2017.

Aldebaran Zeus provided the first leg of a Breeders Crown ‘double’ on the night, as Just A Bit Touchy, the winner of the Group 1 $100,000 Aldebaran Park 2YO Fillies’ Final, is out the mare Gypsy Flair who is by resident sire Skyvalley Nz.

The Aldebaran Park bred and Boko Stables – Holland owned and leased Aldebaran Vera (Trixton Usa - Kyvalley Aldebaran NZ) finished a gallant second.

In South Australia - Aldebaran Alissa NZ Tr. 1.57.7 (Muscle Hill USA - Triple A NZ) won her 8th race and pushed her Stake earnings closer to $50,000.00.

In New Zealand, Aldebaran Park bred and owned Aldebaran Keepa (Kadabra Ca – Another Love Nz) established a new NZ National Record for a two-year-old trotting filly over 2200 metres from the stand winning at Alexandra Park, Auckland. She has won two of her six starts to date.

The Aldebaran Park bred and raced Aldebaran Tess NZ Tr 1.57.0 (Muscle Hill Usa - Solar Powered NZ) maintained her consistent form with a spectacular come-from-behind win in the St Arnaud Trotters Cup at Melton. The four-year-old mare has won nine of her 20 starts.

The frozen resident sire Aldebaran Eagle Usa was credited with his second winner from his first small crop when the Aldebaran Park bred two-year-old Aldebaran Boyd (ex Aldebaran Revenue) emerged successful at Bendigo.

Skyvalley NZ, the leading colonial bred trotting stallion in 2021, continues to churn out the winners.

He produced nine individual winners for the month in three different States. The list includes the Melton winners Pink Galahs Tr 1.54.2, Cuchulainn NZ and Kyvalleyhoneybunny, No Republic Tr 1.59.3(Gloucester Park), the three-year-olds The Sargent (Yarra Valley) and Tennerson (Cranbourne), Golden Sunset Tr 1.59.7 (Kilmore), Daring Angel (Charlton) and Fremarkskuzo (Globe Derby Park).

Interestingly, Skyvalley Nz’s dam, Chiola’s Lass Nz, has been nominated for the 2021 NZ Trotting Broodmare of Excellence Award.

Other Aldebaran Park-bred winners for November were Aldebaran Knox (Muscle Hill Usa -Kyvalley Aldebaran NZ) and Savvy Kyvalley (Andover Hall Usa - Aldebaran Dream NZ).

In other news, Group 1 winning 3yo filly Aldebaran Ursula Tr 1:55.7 (Yield Boko Swe – Ushaka Bromac Nz) , Australasia’s fastest ever two-year-old, sent her stake earnings over the $100,000 mark recently.
