Group 1 to Aldebaran Zeus - September 2022

Brilliant homebred trotter Aldebaran Zeus (Muscle Hill USA - Zoia Boko Swe) firmly established himself as one of the best of his gait in the country when he took out the Group 1 $50,000 Australasian Trotting Championship at Melton.

It was the second of two Group successes for the month for the four-year-old entire.

He stepped smartly from behind the tapes, allowed to balance up by champion reinsman Chris Alford, and then taken to the lead after some 400m. He was never afterwards headed.

Carving out his last three sectionals in 29.7, 27.6 and 29, Aldebaran Zeus left his 11 highly touted rivals struggling in his wake as he cruised to a one length victory.

The $28,500 winner’s cheque pushed Aldebaran Zeuss’s stake earnings over the $200,000 mark.

The runner-up Maori Law is out of the Aldebaran Park-owned mare Sundonna.

Earlier in the month Aldebaran Zeus was successful in the Group 2 - 4yo Delvin Dancer at Tabcorp Park – Melton over the 2240m trip in 1.59.3.

Rockinwithattitude and Panda Fooey, both sired by the Muscle Hill horse and now defunct resident stallion ALDEBARAN EAGLE USA and members of his second crop, scored important wins in Victoria and Queensland recently.

Rockinwithattitude, an impressive filly, divebombed her rivals from midfield to take out the time-honoured Abrahams 2YO Trotters Classic at Shepparton and, a fortnight later, won again at Geelong in open company. The filly has won four of her seven starts to date.

While, Panda Fooey¸ a two-year-old gelding, won at only his second start at Albion Park.

The progeny of resident sire SKLYVALLEY NZ continue to make their presence felt on the racetracks. His latest winner is Kyvalleyhoneybunny, who notched her seventh success and prizemoney now exceeding $50,000 at Globe Derby Park, while he continues his impressive Broodmare siring statistics with his daughter Penny Monster leaving the Albion Park juvenile winner Wewillseehowwego (3 wins to date).

Aldebaran Park bred five individual winners of seven races in September 2022.

Besides Aldebaran Zeus, stud-bred winners included Aldebaran Stevie (Yield Boko Swe - I’m Sonialeellee NZ), 4yo gelding Aldebaran Dino (Andover Hall USA - Aldebaran Maori)¸who has won three out of five, the impressive three-year-old filly Aldebaran Vera (Trixton USA - Kyvalley Aldebaran NZ) and the pacer Jaspervellabeach – 15 wins -(Somebeachsomewhere USA - Aldebaran Bromac NZ)¸ a winner at Gloucester Park in 1:56.5 and 1:57 to take his stakearnings to in excess of $257,000.

On the international front, Smooth Landing USA who is part owned by Aldebaran Park and Aldebaran Flame NZ, who is owned and leased, won in North America and New Zealand respectively. Smooth Landing USA¸ a two-year-old colt by Tactical Landing USA¸ scored in 2:00 at Freehold Raceway, New Jersey, while Aldebaran Flame NZ won twice off handicap marks at Auckland to take her prizemoney to more than $50,000.

In Sweden - 3yo Filly Aldebaran Bardot SWE (Aldebaran Teal Swe – Charly Du Noyer Fr) has qualified at Solvalla in September 2022 and we look forward to her racetrack debut.

We also welcome the addition of stallion Dancinginthedark M to our stud – he is currently in quarantine in the UK and is expected to be on farm and ready for stud duties at the end of October 2022. Dancinginthedark M (2, 1:52.2; 3, 1:49.3), the fastest two-year-old trotter to come to Australia and the fourth fastest trotting stallion of all-time, will be a welcome addition to the Breeding scene in the Southern Hemisphere.
