Aldebaran Park bred wins Bluegrass

The barnstorming win of two-year-old Aldebaranwalkabout in a $86,000 division of the Bluegrass Stakes at The Red Mile, Lexington USA was the highlight of a huge September for Aldebaran Park bred and owned trotters.

Brilliant two-year-old colt Aldebaranwalkabout, a product of Aldebaran Park’s Nagambie nursery, shone on the world stage winning a $20,000 division of the Pennsylvania Stallion Series in 1:55.4 at Pocono Downs on August 20. The colt won by nine lengths without driver David Miller even having to pull the earplugs!

Aldebaranwalkabout is the first foal of the American-bred Aldebaran Turnpike USA, a 1:59.6 Melton winning daughter of Cantab Hall who was imported to Victoria by Aldebaran Park.

ALDEBARAN PARK NEWS UPDATE JULY 2018

Aldebaranwalkabout, a colt bred and reared at Aldebaran Park out of a mare imported from North America, has become the fastest two-year-old trotter ever bred in Australia.

The youngster put up the historic mile in 1:56.4 – a full three seconds inside the previous standard – winning a qualifier at The Meadowlands, New Jersey on July 28. He is due to make his first raceday start in a Pennsylvania Sire Stakes heat on August 10 at The Meadows.

The Group successes of talented duo Aldebaran Eve and Tornado Valley at Melton headlined an amazing month for our leading sire SKYVALLEY.

Aldebaran Eve, who was bred by Aldebaran Park, captured the Group 2 $30,000 Mares Trotting feature on June 2, while Tornado Valley led throughout in the Group 3 $20,000 Free-for-all in 1:59.5 on June 16, his eighth Group/Listed win in 2017/18.

Skyvalley progeny top $2million

Skyvalley, the leading Australian-based trotting stallion again this season, recently topped the $2million mark in lifetime progeny earnings. He has sired 31 winners from 45 starters in Australia this season for $633,689 in stakes (to May 31) including six winners from seven three-year-old starters.

Tornado Valley top of the pops!

SKYVALLEY’S outstanding son Tornado Valley NZ further strengthened his position as the No 1 trotter in the country with a string of Group 3 successes at Melton during April. He has now won six races on end.

The tough gelding started his winning streak in April by capturing the Sundon’s Gift Free-for-all on April 7 rating 1:57.6 over 2240 metres. A week later the six-year-old came off a 20 metre handicap to win the Coulter Crown with a 57.3 last 800 and followed up by taking out the Uncle Petrika Free-for-all in a career-best 1:56 over 1720 metres highlighted by a stunning 56.6 final half.
