Redwood Day Treble - November 2020

The 2020 Redwood Day at Maryborough proved a red-letter one for Aldebaran Park!

The Stud produced three winners on the Stakes filled card highlighted by Pink Galah’s stunning win in the Group 1 $75,000 Victoria Trotters Derby defeating the best colts in the country.

The win completed a golden run for the bonny SKYVALLEY NZ filly who notched five successes on end including the Group 1 $50,000 Aldebaran Park Bill Collins Trotters Sprint, the Group 1 $60,000 Victoria Trotters Oaks and the Group 3 Aldebaran Park Sumthingaboutmaori Free-for-all.

She netted a cool $124,830 to advance her lifetime stake tally to $188,220, making her SKYVALLEY’s second richest female behind only Sky Petite ($251,015).

Interestingly, SKYVALLEY NZ ranks as the sire of the two highest stake earning trotters in Australia for the 2019/20 season in Tornado Valley NZ ($283,710) and Pink Galahs ($162,140).

The Aldebaran Park bred, raised and sold Aldebaran Crescent and the three-year-old Hammers Pegasus also saluted on Redwood Day. Aldebaran Crescent hoisted a new lifetime mark of 1:57.4 in the Matchmaker Mile for trotting mares, while Hammers Pegasus won in a career-best 1:59.9. Aldebaran Crescent won again at Melton.

Aldebaran Tess NZ, a three-year-old filly bred and raced by Aldebaran Park, established a new track record of 1:57.0 for 2190 metres at Maryborough when she won a heat of the Australasian Breeders Crown, her fourth success this season.

Another impressive Australasian Breeders Crown heat winner in the same division was the SKYVALLEY NZ filly Golden Sunset (1:59.4).

Other SKYVALLEY NZ winners in November have been Scenic Sky (Menangle), Skyline NZ (Albion Park) and the three-year-old Skybreeze, who won by 47 metres at Globe Derby Park. SKYVALLEY NZ also ranked as the damsire of the debutant Kilmore two-year-old victor Super Service.

YIELD BOKO SE, the outstanding percentage sire, was represented by the Globe Derby winner Forever Kronos¸ one of six winners from his first crop of 15 foals.

Promising youngster Kyvalley Heist NZ became the fourth individual winner bred by Aldebaran Park for the month when he scored for the second time at Kilmore.

On the international stage, In New Zealand, the Aldebaran Park owned four-year-old mare Rain Mist And Muscle NZ(Muscle Hill USA – October Rain NZ) was a most impressive winner over 2600m at Alexandra Park, Auckland on 27th November, trotting her last mile in 2.01 and her last 800m in an impressive 57.7 . She has now won two races and been six times placed from 21 starts for $24,100 in stakes.

The farm was active at the recent Standardbred Horse Sale at Maryland, USA, purchasing the yearling trotting filly Purpose In Prose (Renamed Aldebaran Acrux), a filly by Chapter Seven from Model Behavior (3, 1:53.2), for $US77,000. Model Behavior, a winner of $103,784, ranks as a Muscles Yankee half-sister to the Hambletonian Oaks winner and USA 3YO Trotting Filly of the Year Bar Slide 3, 1:52.4 ($647,971). Aldebaran Acrux will be trained by Jonas Czernyson who’s early reports are that she is breaking in well and is doing everything expected of her. 3
